Operation: Iraqi Freedom - Scenario Rules and Specialties
Arm Bands
- Red Team’s red armbands are to be worn on the left arm, with their special designators to be worn on the right arm when applicable (Lt, Special Forces, etc).
- Blue Team’s blue armbands are to be worn on the right arm, with their special designators to be worn on the left arm when applicable (Lt, Special Forces, etc).
General Need-to-know
· Artillery/Airstrike: Artillery/Airstrike is awarded by achieving objectives that give your team Artillery/Airstrike canisters. Artillery/Airstrike is called in by the General and SOC only and is Green or Yellow in color. Any player caught in the line of Green or Yellow smoke (determined by a REF or Admin) is eliminated. Players tampering with Artillery/Airstrike canisters will cause them and their squads to be eliminated.
· Block Respawns: Players who are eliminated must report back to their designated assembly areas and await a “Block Respawn.” These respawns take place every 15 minutes and allow any player already in the assembly area to reinsert. Players must be escorted by a Ref or and Admin in order to reinsert.
a. Block Respawn times may change at any time and will be designated by the SOC
b. Respawn points will change by the mission
c. For any questions, ask the SOC or and Admin at the Command Booth
- Smoke Grenades
- Only Staff may use smoke grenades. NO PLAYERS ARE PERMITTED TO USE OR TAMPER WITH SMOKE GRENADES.
- White = destroyed building
- Green/Yellow = Artillery/Airstrike (See Artillery/Airstrike rules above)
- Other colors are just for effect
- Players will be notified if color meanings change
- Referees and Administrators [REFs & Admins]
- REFs: are denoted by red Apocalypse Staff shirts.
· Call players out and carry out special tasks
- Admins: are denoted by yellow Event Staff shirts
· Call players out and carry out mission specific tasks
- Arguing with either REFs or Admins is prohibited. Any complaints are to be directed to the Core 5. Calls made by REFs, Admins, or any Core 5 personnel are final.
- S.O.C. [Secondary Objectives Coordinator]
- The SOC is your go-to source of general game info (Besides Generals)
- Is normally located in the Command Booth (white trailer)
- Radio Use: Players may use their own radios provided they follow these restrictions:
- NO Player may use or monitor the REF Channel
- NO Player may use or monitor the Core 5 Channel
- Red Team’s official Channel is 1-1
- Blue Team’s official Channel is 2-1
- Designated Radio Men must stay on their team’s channel
- Bonus Cards: can be found on the field or may be awarded for capturing certain objectives
a. Can only be used by officers, and some may only be used by your team's General.
b. May only be used once.

Examples of
rewards on Bonus Cards are as follows:
-Helicopter Insertion
-Napalm Strike: called in by officers on grid coordinates
or objectives
-Minefields
-Tank: Use the card to make the tank change to your side.
- Helicopter Insertions:
a. May only be called in by officers, unless otherwise directed
b. Referees will walk an insertion onto any point in the field designated by officers or you General. Helicopter insertions may not land near Surface to Air Missile (SAM) sites, and may be shot down in special cases by SAMS (NOT PLAYERS).
c. Players on "On The Helo" when holding onto the length of rope held by the REF or Admin.
d. Any player who lets go of the rope before the "Helo has landed" is out.
e. NO PLAYER MAY SHOOT AT HELOS. Doing so will result in that player's elimination, and may include loss of points for his team and or removal from the game.
- Land Bridge
- Can be “Destroyed” by and Engineer with C-4. In order to do so, you must get to the flag at the center of the bridge, and place the C-4 there for 1 minute. The other team can disarm your C-4 by getting an engineer there to touch it before the minute is up.
- Can only be destroyed in specific missions.
- Cannot be rebuilt.
- You cannot go on the land bridge when it is “Destroyed”. Yellow Caution Tape will denote the blown bridge.
Special Players:
- Artillery: Players working the Artillery Pieces (water balloon launchers) can only be killed by blowing them up with the C-4 props given out on missions.
- Artillery players cannot be killed by paintballs.
- Deliberate shooting of Artillery personnel by any player will result in that player being eliminated.
- Malicious actions against Artillery personnel will be considered the same as direct confrontation against Apocalypse Paintball and Core 5 Paintball Staff.
- Players hit by water balloons and the water from water balloons are eliminated.
- Lts (Lieutenants/Squad Leaders): Lts are appointed by each team’s General. Each Lt will represent their squad in operation meetings, and will appoint 1 Radio Man and 1 Medic within his squad. Lts will be expected to lead their squads and carry out objectives within the missions.
- Will be denoted by a wide duct tape armband of their team’s color with their Squad’s number on it.
- Can be their own Radio Man
- Cannot be Medics
- Are eliminated like regular players
- Will be expected to brief their squads on mission specifics
- Juggernauts (Terminators): Juggernauts are a special character for the O:IF Scenario game. Juggernauts will be awarded to squads who secure special objectives that have them as an achievement, (this will be denoted in operation meetings) or they can be appointed by the Generals or the SOC before a game.
- Can only be killed if they are shot in the head
- Are denoted by a special vest draped in their team’s color
- Do not ask to be a Juggernaut. Players will be prompted when the option is available.
- Special Forces: Special Forces are the only players who can move downed pilots and special operatives. Players will be prompted or selected to be one of their side’s special forces by their Generals.
- Can move pilots and special operatives
- Denoted by Green Armbands on their specialty arms
- Eliminated the same as regular players
- Pilots and Special Operatives
- Will be identified before they come into play
- Same as options a-c in Artillery
- Can only be moved when escorted by Special Forces.
- Engineers
- Are the only player capable of repairing tanks or buildings (Mission specific)
- Are eliminated like regular players
- Are designated by Engineer Silver Specialty Arm Band. No one can fill an engineer role without an engineer arm band, and players using engineer specialties without holding the position will be removed from the game.
- Are appointed by the General
- Engineers ARE NOT IMMUNE TO MINES! If you are hit by the light blue paint of a mine, it is still an out.
- Are the only players who can blow the Land Bridge (and only in specific missions)
- Generals
- Are a part of the Big Game Staff
- Can be eliminated like regular players
- Denoted by an Officer’s Armband with a star on it
- Will brief Lts and players on mission specifics
- Medics
- Denoted by yellow specialty armband
- Can heal wounded players by tying pink tape (issued) around the affected limb.
- Cannot self-heal
- Wounded Players
- A wound is any hit from a paintball (all grenade, mine, and balloon hits are “kill hits”) in the gun or on the arms and legs below the elbow and knees (hits ON the elbows and knees constitute an out).
- CANNOT move themselves, but CAN be dragged or carried by teammates.
- Can not be executed. You may only eliminate wounded players with a “RAMBO” (to tap the player with one’s hand).
- Radio Man
- Carries the squad’s radio
- RMs who need radios should ask the SOC and need to fill out form
- Is eliminated like regular players
- MUST follow the rules of Core 5 Scenario Game Radio Use
